Foo Fighters
Rock n Roll is back to Milton Keynes Bowl, with Foo Fighters visiting, with a strong support of Biffy Clyro, Jimmy Eat World and Hot Rats (2 members of Supergrass). The Hot Rats (6/10) open up proceedings with a half an hour set including David Bowie's Queen Bitch, they make a fantastic sound for just two people, and are a good opening band. Jimmy Eat World'S (8/10) American pop punk sound follow up nicely, and one of the original bands from the pop punk era, they are a good choice and warm the crowd up with songs such as The Middle and Bleed American setting up nicely for Biffy Clyro (9/10), who open up with The Captain, which is the opening song from latest album Only Revolutions, and with the whole field on their feet, bouncing up and down to Biffy's tight rock sound, with a majority of their set being from the latest album Only Revolutions and Puzzle, not really delving into older numbers, but they still leave an impression on the 65 000 capacity crowd. Highlight of the set however was Many of Horror, which is an atmospheric and epic song, and sounds even better live than it does on record. Then enter the head liners Foo Fighters (10/10) with lead singer Dave Grohl, running up an down his podium before kicking into opener Bridges Burning, also the opener from new album Wasting Lights, then straight into Rope, which was one of the earlier singles from Wasting Lights, then generally play songs from their Greatest Hits album, with songs including The Pretender, My Hero, Breakout and Learn to Fly, as set which also includes a special guest appearance from the days DJ Bob Mould for single Dear Rosemary, the highlight of the set was Best of You, with the crowd signing the tune back to Grohl and co, before they kicked into Skin and Bones.
They finish the first section of the set with crowd pleaser All My Life, with the whole venue bouncing up and down, singing the words from start to finish. Then they go off from the encore, with band - crowd banter, with Grohl appearing from backstage on the big screens, asking the fans how many songs they want, eventually deciding on 5 songs. Then Grohl comes out by himself, and plays through a mesmeric version of Wheels by himself, playing in front of the screen in the middle of the crowd, he then goes into playing Times Like These, before the rest of the band joining in half way through the song. Then enter the 2nd and 3rd special guests of the day, Seasick Steve and Led Zeppelin bass player John Paul Jones. With ex Nirvana sticks man Grohl on drums, they jam together through a version of Seasick Steve's Back in the Doghouse. They end with Everlong, which is a fantastic end to the show, with fireworks ending the show with a bang. Overall Foo's put on an incredible show, with a fantastic sound system and certainly a show that I and I am sure they remember fondly and forever.

Teachers strike, right or wrong?
Yesterday, 25% of schools around the country were closed, due to teachers union striking, over a rise in age of retirement to 65, to workers in the public sector, this also spelled problems for airports, with immigration officers also entering in the strike. So the question is, is it right or is it wrong that they strike? or wasn't it?
The move came from teachers union groups NUT (National Union of Teachers) and ACT (Association of Teachers and Lecturers). Now we all understand why they went on strike, because of the impact that it will have on them in the future, and being a teacher is quite a pain staking job at the best of times, so increasing the age even by a year, is one more year that a teacher has to teach classes before retirement. Teachers have the right to strike against these proposals, so the strikes, are perfectly legal, and in reality caused minimum issues for schools, since only 25% of schools were closed, claimed one Tory MP. On one hand it could be suggested that it is right that the teachers go on strike against these new proposals, as it means that they have to work longer, and as said above teaching isn't easy at the best of times, and gets harder as age takes its toll, so some believe that the retirement age for workers in the public sector should be taken back down to the 60 year old retirement allowing age, and in some ways it should for the reasons above.
However, the retirement age of 65, isn't as bad as some may think, at the end of the day it is only 1 year, yes 1 on the 64 retirement age previously, so was it really that necessary to go on strike over it, some may think not. Even Labour leader Ed Milliband agreed with the governments proposals, which is a rarity, since he is the opposition leader, so in reality should be opposing proposals by the coalition, so this came as a surprise to some. On the back of his statement, he was jeered by the crowds, for expressing his honest opinion, but as tempers were high yesterday, this is understandable, and won't have gained him much support on the back of it. The main issue, is the trouble that this caused parents, though it may have only been 25% of schools closed, that is still a lot of parents that will have to panic and look for childcare, so won't really have gained the teachers any support whatsoever from the parents, and some schools were partially closed, so this would have caused more care problems for parents. This movement may have been beneficial for the teachers, but at the end of the day, it has caused more issues, than was really necessary.
So, overall i do agree that teachers should not have to work until 65, because of the work level that goes into teaching, but it caused more problems than it should have done for parents, and at the end of the day, talks are still ongoing, so was it really that necessary to strike yet, in reality, probably not.
It has also recently been revealed that a girl died during the day of the teachers strikes, when hit by a tree branch, whilst in a park, because of the strikes, so respect to her and her family in a difficult time, but surely more evidence against the teachers strikes.

Haye vs Klitschko
This weekend, English heavy weigh boxer David Haye, takes on Ukranian heavyweight Wladimir Klitschko. Following English fan dominated the weigh in, in Klitschko's hometown of Hamburg, in which Haye weighed in at 15st 2lb 12oz and Klitschko weighed in at 17st 4lb 9oz. The fight looks set to be a heated one after weeks and months of talk, and using the phrase, you can talk the talk but can you walk the walk, matches this fight perfectly.
Haye has shown before against the likes of Valuev, that size doesn't matter, and Klitschko at 6ft 5in, won't faze Haye ahead of this fight, and he will use his speed to try and "knock out" Klitschko. Dr Steel Hammer (better known as Wladimir Klitschko), will look to knock Haye out from the beginning and not have to pass the result on to the judges.
This fight is hard to guess, with some suggesting that Klitschko will take the fight, and some suggesting that Haye will win the fight, i personally believe that Haye will run out winner, because of his speed, and evasiveness, whether he will knock Klitschko out is another question, however, i think it will go to the judges, and Haye will just take the fight.

The Transfer Window has....Opened!
Today, the transfer window "officially" opened despite numerous teams already completing numerous signings. With the likes of Ashley Young, Phil Jones, Jordan Henderson and Brad Friedel moving to different Premier Clubs. Sunderland have been the most busy in June signing no less than 6 players so far, including the signing of Ipswich wonder kid Connor Wickham, for £8 million, beating off competition from the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham to the strikers signature.
Arsenal look set to lose their best assets around the Premier League and La Liga. Gael Clichy looks set to join Manchester City for around £7 million, to solve their shaky left back problem. Samir Nasri looks set to join Manchester City for around £20 million, with interest coming from Manchester United. The worst for Arsenal fans is captain Cesc Fabregas looks set to join Barcelona, in a dream move for the Spanish midfielder. So with the start of the window, Arsenal look set to have a big problem, and that is their depleting squad. They have signed young Charlton defender for around £1 million, and have opened talks with Alex Oxlade Chamberlain a young Southampton winger. This however for a majority of Arsenal fans, can't be enough. They have been linked with the likes of Bolton's Gary Cahill, Blackburn's Chris Samba and Lille Striker Gervinho has claimed that a deal has been completed for him to join the Gunners, however Arsenal now need to look for at least 2 replacements for the above 3 players, mainly Fabregas and Clichy, with a total rebuild of the defence needed, Goalkeeper included. They have a good upcoming goalkeeper in Wojciech Szczesny, but they need an experienced shot stopper to really create a solid back line. Jack Wilshire can step in to replace either Nasri or Fabregas, but then a attacking midfield type player and a new left back has to be a must for Arsene Wenger, in terms of left back he may look inside the clubs, wide youth system, by starting Kieran Gibbs at left back, as he already has some international experience, but i believe Arsenal need an experienced left back.
The champions have already been busy in the window, Manchester United have signed up Ashley Young from Aston Villa, David De Gea from Athletico Madrid and Phil Jones from Blackburn. So with 1 or 2 more signings in midfield and up front they are set for the new season, but have been hampered by the loss of Paul Scholes and Edwin Van Der Sar, but look set to certainly be up there at the end of the season.
Chelsea struggled last season, despite finishing second, which saw the end of Carlo Ancelotti's two year reign, but saw the start of Andre Villas Boas reign as Chelsea manager, Chelsea have yet to make any solid signings, but haven't lost any key players, as yet, despite a raid from Hamburg on 4 of their young players. Villas Boas is expected to raid old club Porto for striker Falcao, so this could spell the end for the likes of Didier Drogba or Nicolas Anelka, but after a disappointing year last year for Chelsea, the squad needs a revamp, so it is expected that so will make a few signings ahead of the new season.
Manchester City as said above are leading the chase for Samir Nasri and look set to win the £7 million chase for Arsenal left back Gael Clichy. So far it has been surprisingly quiet by Man City's standards, with high spending summers previously, but after a complete rebuild of their squad, they will more than likely only sign a few players this summer, with defence the key to their issue. City otherwise, have been very quiet so far, so maybe the start of the transfer window will spark a flurry of new signings.
Liverpool have already signed one of the most highly rated English youngsters in Jordan Henderson, and have been linked with players like Charlie Adam of Blackpool, James Milner of Man City and are in the race to sign Bolton defender Gary Cahill. They looked set for a frantic start to the transfer window, signing Jordan Henderson. Following this however have made no new signings, but it looks set to be a busy window for Liverpool. With new/old manager Kenny Dalgleish in charge on a more permanent basis, he knows that he has to rebuild the squad, and alongside the likes of Carroll and Suarez up front, with one more striker they could prove to be one of the most potent attacking teams in the Premier League, but the club certainly needs a rebuild.
After a demanding season last year, reaching the Champions League Quarter Final, but losing out to Real Madrid. They failed to make the cut for this seasons Champions League. They are struggling to keep hold of stars Gareth Bale and Luka Modric, amid interest from the likes of Manchester Utd and Chelsea. However Redknapp has refused permission for anyone to talk to the players. They have been linked with the likes of Giuseppe Rossi of Villarreal, and are expected to have to sell the likes of Peter Crouch and Jermaine Defoe, with striker becoming a key issue for Redknapp to have to solve. This could be a key year for Spurs, and could be their chance to rise above rivals Arsenal, and with the right signings, could step above their local rivals.
Elsewhere around the Premier League, Bolton look set to lose Gary Cahill, but are hoping to sign Shaun Wright Phillips from Manchester City, Aston Villa also have to replace Ashley Young, and maybe Stewart Downing if Liverpool get their way, but look set to solve the issue of goal keeper with the £4 million signing of Shay Given from Manchester City. Blackburn were hoping to sign Emmanuel Adebayor from Man City, but he looks set to join Real Madrid, they have been quite so far, but the likes of Phil Jones have moved on, and Chris Samba looks set to move on, so striker and defence are an issue that needs solving by gaffer Steve Kean. Fulham have already started their season in the Europa League, and have only signed young players, Dan Burn from Darlington, and Tom Donegan from Everton, and striker and midfield could be a key area for them to cover. Everton, again have been quiet, and usually are until later on the window, they have only really been linked with Jay Bothroyd from Cardiff, but otherwise it looks set to be a quiet start to the window. Wolves and Wigan only managed to stay up, just last year, on the last day confirming their survival, Wolves have signed Jamie O'Hara and Dorus De Vries, and look set to keep adding to their team. Wigan have yet to sign anybody but have yet to lose anybody, with Roberto Martinez stating that he has some big name loan signings lined up for next season, otherwise, now new rumours for them. West Brom have signed 2 new names, Billy Jones from relegated Preston, and Gareth McAuley from Ipswich, both on bosman transfers, and have been linked to the likes of Bradley Johnson from Leeds United. Johnson however looks set to join newly promoted Norwich, who have completed the signings of the likes of James Vaughan from Everton and Steve Morison from Millwall, and look set to keep on adding, with Johnson, just one of the players they want to add to their squad. Swansea came up through the play off Final beating Reading, they have signed Steve Caulker and Danny Graham, and also look set to sign more players with goalkeeper the key position, following Dorus De Vries move to Wolves. Queens Park Rangers are yet to sign any players yet, but haven't lost anybody yet, despite Adel Taarabt a target for the likes of Chelsea, Newcastle and some European clubs. Newcastle United have been busy signing the likes of Yoann Cabaye from Lille and Demba Ba from West Ham, and have beaten Liverpool to the signing of Rennes midfielder Sylvain Marveaux. They have lost Kevin Nolan to West Ham United, and may lose Joey Barton and Jose Enrique, but look strong ahead of the new season. Sunderland have been busy with 6 signings, including most recently Craig Gardner of Birmingham and Connor Wickham of Ipswich, and have also been linked with Manchester Utd trio, John O'Shea, Jonny Evans and Darren Gibson. Stoke have yet to sign any players yet, and may struggle to keep Ryan Shawcross out of the reaches of the likes of Spurs and Liverpool. They may target free agent John Carew after a loan spell last season, but otherwise, no solid rumours as yet.
After covering each club, this summer looks set to be a summer of rebuilding and reinforcing for some teams, however the relegation battle looks set to be as heated as last season, with around 6-7 teams in the running for the Premier League title, but only one team can win.
